The Heritage Acton Calendar: A Beloved Community Tradition
Since its first edition in 2003, the Heritage Calendar has become a cherished tradition in our community. With the exception of 2005 and 2020 (when the pandemic brought a temporary pause), the calendar has been published every year — and always distributed free of charge.
Community-Supported, Community-Funded
Thanks to the generosity of local advertisers, we’ve been able to keep the calendar free for everyone. Advertising dollars cover the cost of printing and mailing 5,000 copies annually, as well as contribute to the ongoing maintenance of Acton Town Hall Centre.
A Labor of Love
The original publisher & one of the Heritage Acton founders, Kathy Sanford, along with her husband Bill, devoted countless hours over many years to making each calendar a success. They sold ads, wrote articles, curated photos, and recruited other contributors — often board members — to help tell the stories of our community. Once all the content and advertisements were finalized, everything was sent off to print. It was truly a mammoth undertaking, and their dedication laid the foundation for what the calendar has become today. For the last many years, Anne McIntyre has overseen the production of the calendar, contributing countless hours and her superior organizational talents to a very successful publication that the public looks forward to every year. With magical volunteers also contributing their time and talents, the calendar is ready for mail out in early December!
A Changing of the Guard
At the end of 2024 Liz Bailey, our long time & incredible advertising volunteer and our long term compositor, Ken Baker, both stepped down from their roles. We are incredibly grateful for their years of dedicated service.
We’re also excited to welcome two new volunteers to the team:
Tilda Boutillier, who will now be handling advertising sales
Melanie Hennesey, who takes over as our new compositor
Their enthusiasm and expertise are already making a difference, and we’re thrilled to have them on board.
Getting Your Calendar
Each year, calendars are mailed out through the post office in early December and are also available for pick-up at various local businesses. Keep an eye out in the community — they go fast!
